Small Miracles and Plain Prayers

A occasional series: answers to prayer about plain things - by Dr. K. Neill Foster

Our Truck

As we neared the end of our tenure at Christian Publications, Inc. in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, I used to tell the men who were around me that, even though I didn't have one, I was a pickup person and that when they saw me with a pickup again, they would know that our CPI years were coming to a close.

Eventually, our son Jeff, up in Canada, located a truck for us—a blue GMC. The low value of the Canadian dollar at that time allowed me to make an offer in Canadian funds for what would have cost several thousand dollars more in the U.S. We went prayerfully all the way through the transaction.

Then came bad news—someone else had just made an offer for the same truck. Moreover, the man had come in and paid for "our" truck and had taken it home!

We were crestfallen. This had seemed to be the right vehicle for us.

However—and here's the good news—when the first buyer took "our" truck home, he found it wouldn't fit in his garage! He brought it back to the car dealership the next day. It was "our" vehicle after all—and still is--in answer to prayer.
